Original Artwork of Baby A. Don't steal it please

Have kids they said. It’ll be fun they said. They were right. I mean we all have our moments but if I had to summarise my parenting experience overall in one word, it would be “FUN”. Fun and also funny AF. Take my first born. We shall call her Baby A. Imagine my mild amusement when she told me to turn off the Cowboy Carter album that I was playing in the kitchen because she’s tired of listening to that old lady who sings country music. Now there are several things wrong with describing our Queen Bee in this manner. I’m sure you’re all capable enough of listing the catalogue of misconceptions that has lead to an 11 year old child in 2025 forming this opinion.

I just laughed whilst switching to Bills Bills Bills. “That’s better” she said. I giggled, then pivoted to a little Crazy In Love followed by Hold Up. Baby A seemed satisfied that I had somewhat regained my musical prowess as she continued to tap away at her iPad, no longer offended by what her ears were being subjected to at the hands of her elderly 40-year old mother.

I asked her if she knew that Beyoncé used to be in a band. Specifically one of the most successful girl groups of all time. She did not. I informed her that the band was called Destiny’s Child. She had heard of them and liked their music. In fact we are listening to some of their music right now. Imagine the incredulous look on her face when I revealed that Beyoncé was the lead singer of said girl group. SHUT THE FRONT DOOR. I know right. “So why did she start singing country music then?”.

Because she grew up and that’s what she felt like doing. “You will grow my daughter”*.
